Your privacy on the Internet is of utmost importance to Terrawatt Initiative
(hereinafter referred to as “TWI”). This privacy statement describes the TWI’s policy
concerning the gathering and sharing of visitors’ information through TWI website. By visiting the website, you are accepting the practices described in this policy.

 

 

What information does TWI collect?

 

Contact forms and downloads

If you fill in the contact form or register to download a PDF report, you will be asked to provide personal information such as your name and email address. This information is collected only with your knowledge and permission, and is kept in TWI database. 

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

 

Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s hard drive containing information about the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on the site. By setting a cookie, TWI will remember you the next time you visit the site and therefore TWI will not have to ask questions that you have already answered (like name and email).
You are always free to decline our cookies if your browser permits, although in that case you may not be able to use certain features on the site and may be required to re-enter information more frequently to use certain services on the site.

 

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos). What does TWI do with the information it collects?

Anonymous web usage
The information gathered during general browsing of the “terrawatt.org” domain is used to analyze trends and usage of the TWI site and to improve the usefulness of the site. It is not connected with any personal information.

Personally identifiable information
If you have registered with TWI in connection with any activity on the TWI site, the information we collect about your normal web usage will be identifiable to you.

TWI may use the personal information you provide to:
• Contact you in response to a query or suggestion
• Mail newsletters about TWI
• Undertake statistical analysis

 

 

How long we retain your data

We generally discard information about you when it’s no longer needed for the purposes for which we collect and use it.

 

 

What rights you have over your data

If you have filled in a form on TWI website, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
